RJA #3c: Research Question

  • What makes foster care successful?
  • How is foster care successful?
  • Who has come out of foster care successful?
  • Why do some come out strong while others never make it?
  • Would foster care be more successful if they took a closer look at what was working?
  • How many people have come out successful compared to not so successful?
  • How many go down the wrong path? Become violent?
  • Is the system flawed?

3. I am writing to defence attorneys and people against foster care. Their main interest is to blame the system and only focus on its flaws. My purpose in writing on this is to prove them wrong and show them just how much the system is working.

5. I would need to define "successful" better. I know foster care isn't all amazing and perfect, but there are tons of good things they do any thousands of kids they help that just get looked over when one kids makes the wrong choices.

RJA #3b: Research Topic Focus

Foster Care
  • number of kids
  • violence rates in foster care
  • success rates in foster care
  • celebrities from foster care
  • opportunities in foster care
  • statistics
  • ability to know right from wrong
  • success stories
  • complaints

RJA #3a: Research Topic Exploration

I used google as my main search engine and typed in "kids in foster care" "kids in foster care statistics" and "Successful kids from foster care". I found a variety of results some including Wikipedia and child welfare.
I learned that there are tons of statistics out there about foster care. I also found out for every article written that was positive about foster care, there was a negative one. I just skimmed the surface but I having a feeling there is a lot more discrepancy about this subject then I thought.

RJA #2b: Research Topic

I chose to write my paper on Non-Profit Organizations. I have been interested for a while about how they work and what all they entail, with the possibility of maybe starting my own one day. Learning more about them would give me a better idea on what to expect or if I am in over my head.

I know that these organizations are run through help of other companies and grants. That they help people in the neighborhood, city, state, or nation that are in need of certain services. Their main goal is to help others. In my opinion, I have found nothing but good organizations but they all help after the fact. They are not proactive.

I hope to learn the history about non-profit organizations and how they are run. All the different steps required to create one, where to go to start and what kind of companies support them. Maybe as I do more reasearch I will come across an organization that actually does what I want to do, get to the kids and adolescence after tradegy BEFORE they make the wrong choices.

RJA #2a: possible topics

  • Counseling Psychology
  • Existential Psychology
  • Abnormal Psychology
  • Humanistic Psychology
  • Non-profit organizations

The psychologies are different types that I might want to pursue as my future career. I have also thought about starting a non-profit organization to help kids with troubles in their lives BEFORE they go down the wrong path.
