This page on the Mile High United Way Website provides everything you need to know about their program. It provides history and credentials of all the things they have done and do. It also maps out how they plan on making a difference through three areas: school readiness, youth success, and adult self sufficiency. It also tells the step to how they go about it: to invest, to convene, and to innovate. They also mention that they provide success stories of people who have gone through their program and videos.

This book gives me the success stories I need for my paper. It gives a 100 people who have been through the system in one way or the other, yet they were still able to do great things. I looked specifically at those who went through foster care and the three that stood out were Oksana Baiul, Alexander Hamilton, and Marilyn Monroe. It tells you the persons achievements, their family origins, what facilities they were in, education, and significant relationships. This book will help me get my point across.

This book gives a lot of information covering every aspect, positive and negative, of the foster care system. I will be using it to give information on children leaving foster care and avoiding abuse in the system. It also gives some points as to when foster care is successful. It provides the facts, gives statistics, and even has studies that have been preformed on the matter.

The foster care system is a necessary and successful system.

ARGUEMENTS:
1. Foster care is necessary
-to remove children from abuse, to remove children from neglect, and to remove children from unhealthy environments like drug addicts, prostitution, alcoholics, and gang members

2. Foster care is always improving system
- they are always looking for areas that need improvement, like education

3. there are many successful and famous people from the foster care system
- Oksana Baiul, Alexander Hamiltion, and Marilyn Monroe

4. There are many agencies working for foster cares success
- agencies like the Mile High United Way, Bridging the Gap, CHAFEE, EVT program, and the Lutheran family services

COUNTER-ARGUEMENTS:
1. inconsistances in foster care
- like placement and abuse.
2. kids getting stuck in foster care
- kids are getting stuck in foster care for years making it harder and harder for them to get adopted.
3. not everyone gets a break like Baiul, Hamilton, or Monroe
- there is the CHAFEE program that helps give them life skills, learn how to save, and find affordable housing

RJA #9a: Thesis Statement

Research Question: Does foster care do what it is meant to do for children?

Presice Claim: Children from foster care have the same chance at being successful as "normal" children

Reasons: it is necessary
it is always improving it's system
there are many successful foster kids
there are many agencies working towards it's success

Complete Thesis: The effectiveness of foster care has been a huge debate over the years; despite the negative outlook foster care has been given, it is a system that is necessary and successful with the help of many people and agencies.
